Due to the adverse weather conditions the collection of waste and recycling bins is being affected and the agreed protocol has been enacted.
The present situation is as follows .
Close of Play Saturday 03rd Jan
* Delayed work from Saturday mainly in the South (Craven Arms) all delayed collections were reported to CSC. Veolia will not be able to get back to these today as the weather conditions have worsened over the course of Sunday night and Monday Morning. Approx 650 properties, alternative collection dates to be agreed.
Monday 05th Jan
Wem and Oswestry – No collection crews have been sent out; Veolia will continue to monitor the situation up to 12:00 and update.
Craven Arms – Have sent crews out to do low lying areas only Ludlow, Ashford Carbonell etc
Bridgnorth – Low lying areas only
Shrewsbury – Low lying areas only
With little improvement due in the next couple of days Veolia do not think that they will be in a position to attempt collections from other areas until at least Wednesday.
* Proposal and as per Adverse Weather plan is that the garden waste serve will be suspended this week with these vehicles used to collect general waste and recycling which includes a continued catch from Christmas hence there is more waste being presented. Residents will be asked to take their garden bins back in and re- present on next scheduled collection day. At this time of year there is little green out anyway and even if we could get to these bins there is a high probability that the material will be frozen within the bin and will be locked out by the crews( the lids will be frozen and not open so the bin cannot be emptied anyway)
* Veolia will priorities Refuse and Recycling as these will be the most used waste streams during the Xmas period
